The original inspiration for this head was from various representations of Celtic gods; the shape of the stone block suggested a warped representation, which gave me the idea of blending the image of the god himself with the flattened and warped appearance of the heads of the sacrificial victims preserved as "bog bodies" throughout Northern Europe. Portland Stone from the Whit Bed (Oolitic limestone with shell inclusions), hand cut and partly polished Not for Sale, but casts may be available if required. |
